The Hangman's Daughter, ebook by Oliver Pötzsch

The Hangman's Daughter
is the first novel from German television screenwriter Oliver Pötzsch, a descendent of the Kuisls, a famous Bavarian executioner clan.

Editorial review of ebook, The Hangman's Daughter

Germany, 1660: When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. Whispers and dark memories of witch trials and the women burned at the stake just seventy years earlier still haunt the streets of Schongau. When more children disappear and an orphan boy is found dead—marked by the same tattoo—the mounting hysteria threatens to erupt into chaos.

Before the unrest forces him to torture and execute the very woman who aided in the birth of his children, Jakob must unravel the truth. With the help of his clever daughter, Magdelena, and Simon, the university-educated son of the town’s physician, Jakob discovers that a devil is indeed loose in Schongau. But it may be too late to prevent bloodshed.

Louis L'Amour Ebooks

Welcome to ebooks index and today is Louis L'Amour Apprecation Day.
Have you read all of his works?

Editorial Review of ebook: Silver Canyon: A Novel

“You’re not wanted in Hattan’s Point,” Matt Brennan was told moments after arriving in town. “There’s trouble here and men are picking sides.” But Matt decided he wasn’t going anywhere. Not until he found out what the dispute was about, and not before he got to know Moira Maclaren. She considered him nothing more than a drifting ranch hand, but Matt was determined to prove her wrong. To do so, he’d have to solve a mystery that was at the center of the growing violence in Hattan’s Point–a secret that could make a man rich . . . or dead. Probably dead.

Editorial Review of ebook:McQueen of the Tumbling K

The stories in McQueen of the Tumbling K & Other Early Western Classics date from the 1940s-50s, the beginning of Louis L'Amour's literary career. Each of these vintage tales was penned when he was a journeyman author, earning his living creating Western action for pulp magazines. The selection in this anthology was personally made by the editorial board of Buckskin Classics, who feel the individual stories are all emblematic of L'Amour's early short fiction at its best. "Ride, You Tonto Raiders!" is a rare magazine-length novel, worth the price of admission alone to L'Amour aficionados. The title story and "Riding for the Brand" are two long and meaty novelettes. "Trap of Gold," which pack's more suspense than any big budget movie, is off trail for L'Amour but authentically Western. "Mistakes Can Kill You" passes on a hard-earned lesson from the author's youth. And, "Trail to PieTown" showcases the master's knack for telling the whole story of the West in a few brief pages.

Editorial Review of ebook:The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour, Volume 1

L'Amour never writes with less than a saddle creak in his sentences and more often with a desert heatwave boiling up from a sunbaked paragraph. A master storyteller.... for reading under the stars.

Editorial Review of ebook:Under the Sweetwater Rim

Deep in Indian country, Major Mark Devereaux and his men find a grisly scene: a wagon train savagely attacked, with no survivors. One of the wagons originally with the group is missing; in it is a fortune in gold and Devereaux’s daughter, Mary. The slaughter, Devereaux learns, was not the work of Indians but of a murderous outlaw band. With the stakes rising in a deadly game, the only wild card is Lieutenant Tenadore Brian, who is riding with the missing wagon—against orders. Devereaux knows Brian is a good soldier, but is he good enough to protect a saddlebag full of gold . . . and the life of his daughter?

Editorial Review of ebook:Lit a Shuck for Texas

CLASSIC LOUIS L'AMOUR Here is a passel of stories by the supreme master of the western tale, Louis L'Amour. Forgotten for almost forty years, they were penned at the outset of L'Amour's career, when he was writing for the late, lamented pulp magazines. Though he would gain his greatest success with the novel, this volume reveals him to have been an equally accomplished practitioner of short story and novelette. If you are already a Louis L'Amour fan, stories like "Lit a Shuck for Texas," "Desert Death Song," "Blood of Ryan," and "Law of the Desert Born" will confirm your opinion of the master's abilities; and if you are not yet a fan, these stories will make you one. When Louis L’Amour writes of the West, he knows it intimately, having worked extensively throughout the region in a variety of jobs Las a young man in the 1920s-30s. There he met, and learned from, the last of the gunfighters and cowtown sheriffs from the days of the Old West, when the Daltons and the Earps still rode. But the first tales of the frontier he heard were at his parents’ knees, for one of his grandfathers had been scalped by the Sioux. With this background, it’s little wonder that he became one of the supreme tellers of authentic tales of Western action and bravery. A must read!

Editorial Review of ebook:Jubal Sackett

ebook: Immortality

Immortality is a must read for all science fiction fans!

Editorial of e-book:

"Speaking as an evolved Transhuman, I applaud this very entertaining, intelligent, and thought provoking journey to the edges of humanity." - Danny Rubin, author and screenwriter of Groundhog Day....

"Immortality is a fine, tense, scientific mystery adventure that puts mankind in a challenge of survival with a short time limit. This is the way the world could end." - Piers Anthony, author of 21 New York Times best-selling novels....

Immortality has been a best-selling techno-thriller on the Amazon Kindle since January 2008!....

Sci-Fi Reader - 4Stars - "This book manages to do what all the best sci-fi does - provide a thought-provoking, alternative viewpoint on the business of existence. I recommend you give it a go." - sfreader.com....

Kirkus - There is enough power in the premise to leave readers reeling. A novel that will surprise fans of science-fiction and doomsday scenarios... An eschatological techno-thriller that explores human evolution, technology and the threat of global environmental collapse. An illicit bulldozer operator begins hearing terrible noises from the depths of the Brazilian rainforest. It's too late for the operator and something terrible is in the air. Birds begin to fall from the sky, and before he find shelter, he slides into a deadly paralysis. Traversing the globe, the narrative picks up ten months later in a Wyoming mountain range. Nobel laureate Mark Freedman is leading an expedition to study bacteria with a group of graduate students. Unaware of the incident in Brazil, or the other "kill zones" manifesting around the world, his knowledge of a particular bacterial strain will become indispensable in the following months as humanity struggles to survive. In Atlanta, Dr. Kathy Morrison humbly prepares for a blind date, but in a few weeks she will be looking for the causes behind another demi-apocalypse this time on American soil. What follows isn't simply a rehashed viral saga in a level-four biohazard suit. It's a story about genetic revelation, environmental destiny and humanity's ecological responsibility. The science of the novel feels just on the side of authentic, and the expertly rendered sterilization procedures that Morrison must endure are as creepy and cool as anything on film or in print. But the novel's quasi-metaphysical implications make it more technically fantastic than hardcore science fiction. Bohacz takes great care establishing each character with personal details that serve the narrative well. Additionally, the science and science fiction are fascinating. There is enough power in the premise to leave readers reeling. A novel that will surprise fans of science-fiction and doomsday scenarios. - Kirkus Discoveries....

Dust cover: Without warning, something has gone terribly awry. In the remote and unnoticed places of the world, small pockets of death begin occurring. As the initially isolated extinctions spread, the world's eyes focus on this unimaginable horror and chaos. Out of the ecological imbalance, something new and extraordinary is evolving and surviving to fill the voids left by these extinctions. Evolution is operating in ways no one could have expected and environmental damage may be the catalyst. Once discovered, this knowledge changes everything....

The story begun in Immortality is not over. A sequel is coming soon....

The Count of Monte Cristo - Latest Edition 2010

I saw this movie The Count of Monte Cristo a few years ago but the movie does not do this ebook any justice, I believe this book will become one of my favorite ebook of all times.

Editorial of ebook:

The Count of Monte Cristo - Latest Edition 2010
(French: Le Comte de Monte-Cristo) is an adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas, père. It is often considered to be, along with The Three Musketeers, Dumas' most popular work. The writing of the work was completed in 1844. Like many of his novels, it is expanded from the plot outlines suggested by his collaborating ghostwriter Auguste Maquet.

The story takes place in France, Italy, islands in the Mediterranean and the Levant during the historical events of 1815–1838 (from just before the Hundred Days through to the reign of Louis-Philippe of France). The historical setting is a fundamental element of the book. It is primarily concerned with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy, forgiveness and death, and is told in the style of an adventure story.

ebook: Space Prison, The Surviors

A kindle ebook titled: Space Prison, The Survivors (The science fiction thriller classic!) - A ship heading from Earth to Athena, a planet 500 light years away, is suddenly attacked by the Gerns, an alien empire in its expansion phase. People aboard are divided by the invaders into Slaves and Rejects. The former to work under Gern's command on Athena, the latter to stay in the nearest Earth-like planet, called Ragnarok and to be later returned to their mother planet.

Ragnarok, however, turns out to be an inhospitable world, populated by deadly, aggressive creatures. The novels follows the stranded humans through several generations as they try to survive there. Comic book writer Warren Ellis counts the novel as one of his early favorites, writing, "I must have read that book twenty times. It just rips along (in many senses of the word “rips”), as shamelessly gleeful as a short genre book should be."

One of the truly unusual novels in science fiction--a vivid portrayal of the deadliest planet ever discovered!

EXCERPT from ebook: Space Prison, The Survivors (The science fiction thriller classic!)

The sound came swiftly nearer, rising in pitch and swelling in volume. Then it broke through the clouds, tall and black and beautifully deadly—the Gern battle cruiser, come to seek them out and destroy them.

Humbolt dropped inside the stockade, exulting. For two hundred years his people had been waiting for the chance to fight the mighty Gern Empire ...

... with bows and arrows against blasters and bombs!

Tom Godwin surely has this ebook full of intrigue and adventure, this classic is a must for sci-fi pulp literature fans!

They also said, "The borrower does not need to own a Kindle. Kindle books can be read

Editorial of kindle ebook:

"You are a very convincing writer. I have to say that it is obvious that you have done a significant amount planning and preparation in crafting your work. I really enjoyed your narrative voice - it was familiar and fluid. Right from the start your plot was very engaging. You do a nice job of slowly making your way through the story. You are very descriptive. So many authors rush into their story's plots without really developing them. All of your characters are round and nicely developed. Your book read like a movie in my mind. You have crafted an excellent piece here.

Or if you prefer the book instead of the cheaply priced ebook, Altered Destiny: A Hustler's Choice
